Landlord to pay $1M in emotional support animal lawsuit

MEEKER, Colo. – Residents with disabilities using the Meeker Housing Authority won a discrimination lawsuit for $1 million. The suit was filed after their landlord told them their emotional support animals would not be allowed without paying an additional pet fee.

Throughout Brevard County, and the rest of the United States, Walmart is adding prominent signage saying “Service animals welcome. No Pets.”

United Airlines is limiting emotional support animals to flights under 8 hours. No kittens or puppies under four months will be allowed in-cabin. Emotional support animals will be limited to dogs and cats, service animals are limited to dogs, cats and miniature horses.

Indiana woman fighting to keep 160-pound pig as emotional support animal

An Indiana mom is fighting her city to keep her 160 pound pot-bellied pig. Farm animals are not allowed within New Castle city limits, according to city code, but Joy Burke said the 10-month-old pig named Dazie is her emotional support animal.

Burke has had her pig for about a year and said it’s never been a problem until someone complained to animal control. She claims Dazie helps her with anxiety and panic attacks.

Cindy Torok was escorted off Flight 1612, traveling from Orlando, Florida, to Cleveland, Ohio, on Tuesday, after airline staff discovered she brought her 11-week-old squirrel Daisy on board.

Research shows that about 78% of 1,200 Americans surveyed in an online study agree that mental illness requiring ESAs is real. Another 81% believe that ESAs should be allowed on commercial airplanes, while only 40% believe that airlines should be allowed to ban ESAs for safety reasons.
